Cynthia is a freelance photographer & documentary filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated in 2023 from UNC-Chapel Hill, where she received a senior superlative in multimedia journalism. She was a video fellow at Business Insider and AAJA, an English teacher in France, and co-published the photo book Lunchbox as part of NC Asian Americans Together’s ASAP cohort. She speaks English, Mandarin, and French.
Her work has been recognized by the Hearst Journalism Awards, College Photographer of the Year, the Asian American Journalists Association, and Short Story UNC. In all mediums, her work centers on character-driven stories of identity, home, and belonging: who we are, and what we owe, to each other.
